Odisha Secretariat ASOs visit Vedanta Jharsuguda plant

As many as 45 Assistant Section Officers (ASOs) of Odisha Secretariat were taken on a one-day visit to Vedanta Aluminium’s Jharsuguda Unit as part of their induction programme.

The visit included an interaction with the senior management, followed by a plant visit within the Company’s aluminium smelter complex, to understand the workings of one of the largest single location smelters in the world. The officers were given insights on the plant operations with an emphasis on the Company’s community-focused initiatives, smelter operations, power operations and robust safety practices, along with an overview of various other functions.

Elucidating on Vedanta’s contribution towards Odisha and congratulating the new trainee officers, Vedanta Ltd. Jharsuguda CEO Sunil Gupta said, “Vedanta’s association with Odisha has been an enriching one and we take great pride in being the State’s partner in progress. Our Jharsuguda plant is one of the world’s largest aluminium plants and our contribution to the State’s well-being is instrumental. We have been acknowledged for bringing remote areas of the state to the socio-economic mainstream. The company has invested over Rs. 50,000 crore and has played a key role in triggering exponential GDP growth of Jharsuguda district. Today, Jharsuguda is one of the highest per capita earning districts in Odisha.” “I commend all the trainee officers for getting selected for this coveted post. I wish them all the success for their future endeavours,” he added.

Assistant Section Officer and part of the visiting cohort Ashish Kumar Nayak said, “Our visit to Vedanta Jharsuguda plant has been an enriching one, where our trainee officers got the opportunity to interact with the senior management and get an overview of the operations.”

Thanking Vedanta Jharsuguda management for facilitating the visit, Nayak further said, “The value addition through such industrial plant visits is immense as it gives a comprehensive perspective, which going forward will be very helpful for our officers.”
