The Odisha Government has urged the Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry for sanction of Rs 1300 crore for the development of 31 road projects in the State.
In a letter to the Under Secretary in the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, State Works Secretary Dr Krishan Kumar has sought approval of the road projects under CRIF, EI and ISC schemes.
Kumar urged the Union Ministry to sanction Rs 1,299 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) scheme, Economic Importance (EI) scheme and Interstate Connectivity (ISC) scheme during the current financial year.
He requested the Ministry to sanction Rs 1001 crore for 25 road projects under CRIF, three projects worth Rs 123 crore under EI, and three projects of Rs 175 crore under ISC scheme.
Odisha plans to construct 521.35 km roads under the CRIF scheme, 50.44 km under the EI scheme and 63.35 km of road under the ISC scheme.
All the proposed road projects, except four, are major district roads (MDR).
