AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar added one more ‘first’ to its credit as its doctors performed Minimally Invasive Bypass Surgery which is done for the first time in Odisha.
Forty-two years old Abdul Osim of Balasore got a new lease of life after Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery performed by the doctors of AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar.
Osim suffered from heart attack one month ago. After coronary angiography he was diagnosed with multiple blocks in his heart; and was advised for bypass surgery. After visiting various hospitals in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, his relatives finally brought him to the Cardiac Surgery department in AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar where Cardiac surgeon Dr Biswajeet Mohapatra advised them for minimally invasive bypass surgery. In this technique instead of a large incision over the middle of chest, open-heart surgery is done through a small hole on the side of the chest.
A medical team under the leadership of Heart surgeon Dr Biswajeet Mohapatra, Cardiac anaesthesiologist Dr Vivek Chowdhry, Dr Braj Mohan Rath and Perfusionist Punyabrat Giri performed Minimally invasive Bypass surgery on the patient.
It is for the first time that Minimally Invasive Bypass Surgery has been done in Odisha, said Dr Mohapatra.
The patient recovered fast after surgery and was discharged from the Hospital 4 days after the surgery. Patient & his family members have profusely thanked Dr Mohapatra and his team in AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar for the successful Minimally Invasive Bypass surgery with such a small incision and minimal pain.
Heart Valve replacement surgery is regularly done in Minimally Invasive technique in AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar.
