The 19th Punyatithi of the visionary leader and Founder Chairman of the OP Jindal Group, Om Prakash Jindal, fondly known as Bauji, was observed with great reverence at Barbil Pellet Plant, Kasia, and Tensa iron mines of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) on Sunday. Across these units, a series of social and spiritual services were meticulously organized to honour his memory and legacy.
The day commenced with special pujas, prayers, and Geeta Yajna ceremonies held at the temples within the respective townships. Led by the Unit Heads, Purusotham MD of Barbil Pellet Plant, Raghuraj Raghuvanshi of Kasia Mines, and Kamalakanta Nanda of Tensa Mines, along with other senior executives and employees, all employees and their families actively participated in these rituals to pay homage to the revered leader. A significant number of local community members also joined in the spiritual services conducted in remembrance of OP Jindal.
Moreover, to embody the spirit of selflessness and service championed by Bauji, blood donation camps were organized at the Barbil Pellet Plant and Tensa mines by the JSP Foundation, the social arm of JSP, in collaboration with the Red Cross Society. A total of 175 individuals volunteered to donate blood, showcasing their enthusiasm and commitment to giving back to society. The inauguration of these camps, at the Barbil and Tensa units, was graced by Purusotham MD and Kamalakanta Nanda, respectively, in the presence of Raghuraj Raghuvanshi and Asish Ranjan Mohanty, Head HR&ES.
Adding a touch of inclusivity and heartfelt tribute, the Ladies’ Clubs of the respective townships orchestrated various programs to commemorate the occasion. Employees, business associates, and their families actively participated in these events, further underscoring the profound impact and enduring legacy of the beloved Bauji.
Om Prakash Jindal (7 August 1930 – 31 March 2005), a native of Hisar, Haryana, pioneered a thriving business empire, the Jindal Group of Companies, under the flagship of the O.P. Jindal Group, where he served as the Founder Chairman. Recognized for his exemplary contributions to the Indian Steel Industry, Jindal was honoured with the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in November 2004. His illustrious career also saw him serve as the Minister of Power in the Government of Haryana, in addition to being a distinguished member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly and the Parliament.
