Panther Cricfest 2022: Team Dare Devil lifts championship trophy

          In a nail-biting finish, Team Dare Devil beat Team Spartans by six runs to win the Panther Champion Trophy of the Panther Cricfest 2022, the inter-departmental mega cricket tournament, organized by Jindal Officers’ Club (JOC) of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) under flood light here on Wednesday.

Put in to bat by Spartans skipper, Team Dare Devil – comprising players from the Security department – scored 50 runs in the stipulated 10 overs losing 9 wickets.

Chasing 51 for victory, Spartans – selected from Plate Mill, Bar Mill, SSD and TSD – managed to make only 44 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, thus handing over the match to Dare Devil.

Nitesh Banjara of Team Dare Devils was declared “Player of the Match” for picking 2 wickets in 2 overs conceding only 5 runs, while his teammate Bapun Sahu was adjudged “Player of the Tournament” for scoring 137 runs in 6 matches during the tournament.

The “Best Batsman” award went to Team Spartans’ Dibyaranjan Pradhan, who scored a total of 139 runs in 6 matches.

 Prateek of Team Xtreme was declared “Best Bowler of the Tournament” for taking 10 wickets in 5 matches.

JSP Managing Director Bimlendra Jha graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, and presented trophies to the winners in the presence of CEO-Steel Business Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, Executive Director In-Charge, Angul Hridayeshwar Jha; Executive Director (Iron Zone) Damodar Mittal, JOC General Secretary Ravi Shankar, HoDs of different departments, employees and cricket lovers from Jindal Nagar Township and periphery villages.

A total of 10 teams participated in the Panther Cricfest 22 that started on December 10, and 20 league matches were played in the tournament.
