PARADIP, APRIL 15, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): In a heartfelt homage to the fearless firefighters who valiantly gave their lives in the tragic Bombay Dock Explosion of April 14, 1944, the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) solemnly inaugurated the National Fire Service Week on Monday.
Guided by the esteemed leadership of PPA Chairman PL Haranadh, a robust Fire Safety Awareness Drive has been launched, spanning from April 1st to April 20th. This extensive initiative is dedicated to enlightening port workers, stakeholders, local communities, and school children on the critical aspects of fire hazards, prevention strategies, and effective firefighting techniques. Underlining this year’s poignant theme, “Ensure Fire Safety to contribute towards nation building,” is a poignant reminder of the pivotal role fire safety plays in the development of our nation.
The inaugural ceremony, held at the Main Fire Station of CISF Fire Wing, was graced by the presence of PPA Chairman Haranadh as the chief guest. In his impassioned address, he underscored the paramount importance of nurturing fire safety awareness and commended the CISF Fire Wing of PPA for their recent accolade of securing the runners-up trophy among 114 Fire Wing Units nationwide.
Extending a warm welcome to all attendees, CISF Commandant Akshat Patel eloquently highlighted the profound significance of the occasion and presented the annual report. The poignant event concluded with Deputy Commandant/Fire Bishnu Swarup conveying heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the organizers.
The flawless execution of the event, meticulously orchestrated by Company Commander Fire Wing Inspector Bhaskar Das, garnered heartfelt commendation from all those present, further underscoring the unwavering collective commitment to fire safety and emergency preparedness in the region.
