“Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan”, an initiative by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, aims at eliminating tuberculosis (TB) from the country by 2025 by improving the quality of care and treatment of people suffering from this disease.
In this context, the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Rayagada has launched “Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” at Utkal Alumina on Thursday. In this initiative, Utkal Alumina has been appointed as a Ni-kshya Mitra for the district where it has adopted 24 TB patients from Kashipur Block for the next six months.
The program was launched by Dr. Lalmohan Rautroy, CDM & PHO, Rayagada; and Mazhar Beig, Unit Head and President of Utkal Alumina, in the presence of Dr. Mamata Sahu, ADPHO (TB); Dr. DK Dev, TB & Chest specialist, DHH, Rayagada; Dr. Janmejaya Das, Medical Officer In charge Kashipur, Dr. Lopamudra Priyadarshini, Head CSR, CR & Sustainability Utkal Alumina; and Dr. Arindam Roy Choudhury, CMO, Utkal Hospital.
On the occasion, Ni-kshay Posana Kits were distributed to all 24 TB patients by Utkal Alumina, and a sensitization program was organised by DHH Rayagada on National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) for all doctors and paramedics engaged at Utkal Alumina Private Health facilities.
Dr. Lalmohan Rautroy – CDM & PHO, Rayagada, appreciated Utkal Alumina for being the Ni-kshya Mitra for the district and adopting TB patients for their social good. “This contribution of Utkal Alumina would certainly help the district to become TB free,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mazhar Being, Unit Head & President- Utkal Alumina emphasized the collaborative efforts taken by the district administration and Utkal Alumina in the past to face health epidemic and crisis. “We are always committed and prepared to safeguard our community from health crises by joining hand with district administration,” he said.
The program was coordinated by Nabin Kishore Mohanty – DPC, NTE, Susmita Maharana – PPP Co, Susant Behera – STS, Kasipur, along with the Liaison, CSR, CR & Sustainability Team of Utkal Alumina.
