A public hearing was held at Paradip on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Paradip ADM KC Dhir for expansion of the Paradeep Unit IFFCO for production of Nano Fertilizer (DAP and Urea). The public hearing programme was organised by the District Administration of Jagatsinghpur and Paradip Regional Office of the Odisha State Pollution Control Board. Local people, NGOs, and environmental activists attended the programme.
PC Behera, Regional Officer, SPCB Paradeep coordinated the program in the presence of Nimain Charana Sethy, Additional SP, Paradeep; Subhalaxmi Pujary, IIC Paradeep Police Station; and Bibechita Sarangi, Deputy Environment Engineer, SPCB, Paradip.
PS Neelambaran, Sr. GM (Nano); B K Parida, Sr. Manager (HR), Debasis Mohanty, Dy. Manager (Environment) and Prsanna Kumar Beura, PRO, represented IFFCO.
Project proponent IFFCO briefed the gathering on the new project for production of Nano fertilizer with expansion of existing plant. The proposed plant will have the capacity to produce 33, 000 KL Nano DAP and Nano Urea annually. The plant will be established at an investment of Rs 225 crore in 10 acres of land available in the IFFCO Campus.
Establishment of this project will usher employment generation in the locality.
The production process of Nano fertilizer will have a negligible impact on the air and water environment, IFFCO authorities said while informing about various pollution control measures to be undertaken during construction and operation phases of this new Plant.
More than 300 persons attended this public hearing program. People present in the meeting enquired about various aspects associated with environmental pollution, employment benefits and peripheral development activities which was explained by the IFFCO officials.
