Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of Maharatna Steel Company SAIL, registered its best ever monthly crude steel production in July, 2021. RSP produced 3,63,095 tonnes of crude steel in the said month, thereby improving its earlier best record of 3,62,319 tonnes achieved in December, 2020. Moreover, crude steel production also went up by 27 percent from 2,64,818 tonnes achieved in June, 2021.
Continuing the excellent run, the Sinter Plants also put up a brilliant performance by producing 6,50,985 tonnes of sinter in July, 2021 to record the best ever sinter production for any month. The earlier best of 6,36,645 tonnes was achieved in December, 2020. The Sintering Plant-III unit contributed 3,50,583 tonnes of sinter to script its best ever production for any month as well.
Besides, RSP recorded Best July performance in almost all key areas. The Steel Plant produced 3,90,027 tonnes of hot metal to record its best July performance. RSP also produced 3,02,348 tonnes of saleable steel to register the best July performance. Similarly, Hot Strip Mill-I by producing 1,71,042 tonnes of total Hot Rolled (HR) coils and 1,22,507 tonnes of HR Coils for sale, New Plate Mill by producing 81,590 tonnes of Plates registered their best July performance. The Raw Materials Handling Plant unit also registered its best July dispatch of 11,00,926 tonnes excluding sinter. The Coke Ovens Battery-6 achieved an average daily Oven pushings of 91.5 to clock its best July performance. On the dispatch front also, RSP registered the best July performance by dispatching 3,01,821 tonnes of saleable steel.
All the major units of RSP excelled in tandem to achieve their respective APP targets in July, 2021.
Along with this, Bolani Ores Mines (BOM) of RSP has shown an exemplary performance by achieving “all time highest ever production” in the month of July-2021. BOM has also surpassed the previous records in terms of both lumps and fines production and dispatch for any month since inception. Kalta Iron Mines (KIM) achieved the highest ever Run of Mine (ROM) production of 3,64,000 tonnes for any month. Also, KIM has recorded the highest ever lump & fines production and highest ever lump & fines dispatch in the month of July, since inception. Besides, KIM also recorded the highest ever production of 12,944.29 tonnes for any day on July 14, 2021.
