Continuing its spree of excellence, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) Hot Strip Mill–2 has registered the record single shift HR coil production in ‘C’ Shift of June 5. The Mill achieved the best ever single shift performance by rolling out 2376 tons of slab and 2321 tons of HR coil, surpassing the previous best of rolling 2167 tons of slab and 2124 tons of HR coil recorded on May 28 this year.
RSP Director In-Charge Atanu Bhowmick, accompanied by senior officials of the steel plant, visited HSM-2 today to congratulate the collective for the remarkable performance. The DIC presented sweets and bouquets to the employees.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhowmick said, “The splendid performance signifies the spirit, determination and professionalism of the collective. It indicates that if you desire, plan and execute, then the goal is certainly attainable. Let’s sustain the momentum to scale new peaks of success”. T
he DIC interacted with the senior officers and employees of the department and urged them to gear up for the Performance Guarantee Test. The other senior officers who accompanied Bhowmick to the HSM-2, also congratulated the collective on the stupendous performance and encouraged them to do even better in the coming days.
The HSM-2 and associated department collective led by CGM Debabrata Dutta assured the DIC of their commitment to give the best for taking the plant to greater heights.
The Hot Strip Mill-2 with 3 Million Tonne per Annum (MTPA) capacity is a state-of-the-art mill with few parallels in India and will be producing world-class hot rolled (HR) coils. The Mill was commissioned on March 31, 2022.
With high level of automation, this mill would produce coils of Carbon Structural Steel, High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) steel, High Carbon Steel, LPG Cylinder Steel, Low Alloy Steel, API (up to X100) Pipe Steel and Auto-grade steel. Equipped with the latest and sophisticated technology, the Mill will meet the stringent requirements of the customers in terms of quality, finish, dimensions and other parameters.
