For the first time the Hot Strip Mill-2 of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved 1 lakh tons of slab rolling in a month in May this year. The previous best of 71,485 tons was recorded in March 2022.
Post pandemic, the Mill started in October 2021 with rolling of a single coil of 16 tons. Subsequently, the ramp up process started with production figures touching 1,151 tons in November 2021; 9,868 tons in December 2021; 31,213 tons in January 2022; 48,597 tons in February 2022; 71,485 tons in March 2022; and 47,315 tons in April 2022.
The cumulative HR coil production from the Unit has crossed 3 lakh tons — 3,00,568 tons to be precise — on May 31, where as the total HR Coil dispatch has been 2,59,076 tons till the end of May 2022.
