RSP New Plate Mill surpasses ABP target for first time since inception

ROURKELA, MARCH 28, 2022

The state-of-the-art New Plate Mill (NPM) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has surpassed the Annual Business Plan (ABP) target of 920,000 tonnes in the current financial year for the first time since inception.

The ultra modern Mill went past the benchmark which also is the rated capacity of the Mill in the A Shift on March 28 i.e. 3 days before the end of the current fiscal. The Mill is all set to create a fresh milestone in the FY22 having already gone beyond the previous best fiscal rolling record of 875,458 tonnes achieved in FY2019-20.

Congratulating the New Plate Mill collective and all the associated departments over the superlative performance, RSP Director-In-Charge Atanu Bhowmick said, “Your efforts have been invaluable in achieving the feat. Let excellence be our hallmark as we march ahead in the days to come.”

Notably, the Mill with cutting edge technology produces wide range of plates with high strength and close tolerances to meet stringent international standards. It has received the approval of DNV-GL (Det Norske Veritas-Bermanischer Lloyd) Business Assurance to produce CE Mark Plates for European market.
