The Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has been accorded FIH Category-2 Hockey field certificate. The certificate is valid till February 8, 2026.
In the certificate, FIH has mentioned that Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium has been tested and shown to comply with the requirements of an FIH Category-2 hockey field. With the certification, the Hockey Stadium can now host Category-2 National and International tournaments.
To recall, the upgraded Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium Complex was recently inaugurated by SAIL Chairman Soma Mondal.
The stadium is adorned with a state-of-the-art synthetic turf, beautified galleries and pavilions, computerised sprinklers and a renovated infrastructure. The complex spread over an area of 15 acres, has been given a complete makeover at a cost of about Rs 12 crore in the up-gradation process.
