TPCODL enhances power infrastructure in Dhenkanal Division amid heatwave surge

BHUBANESWAR, JUNE 25, 2024 (TBB BUREAU):  In a major stride towards fortifying power distribution amidst soaring electricity demand due to recent heatwaves, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) has undertaken extensive infrastructure upgrades. Central to these efforts is the construction of new 33KV and 11KV feeders designed to ensure a consistent and high-quality power supply for consumers.

A noteworthy milestone has been achieved by the TPCODL team in the Gondia Subdivision. Led by the Dhenkanal Electrical Division (DED) in Dhenkanal, the team has successfully completed and energized a new 33KV feeder line. Spanning 6 kilometres from the Gondia 132/33 KV Grid Substation in Dhenkanal District, this line marks a significant enhancement in the power distribution framework.

The upgrade is set to benefit approximately 36,000 consumers across Gondia, Nihalprasad, and Joranda. The operationalization of the new feeder line has led to a marked reduction in power outages, thereby significantly improving electricity reliability for these areas.

Prior to this development, the Gondia Subdivision was dependent on a 36-kilometre 33KV feeder line originating from the 132/33KV Gundichapada Grid Substation. The new, more efficient 6-kilometre 33KV Gondia feeder addresses a longstanding issue and represents a pivotal project for the DED Dhenkanal Division.

“This initiative underscores our unwavering commitment to providing reliable and quality power supply to our customers, especially during the challenging times posed by heatwaves,” said Arvind Singh, CEO of TPCODL. “I extend my sincere thanks to the dedicated efforts of our O&M staff, Project team, E&MR team, MMG team, and everyone involved in the successful completion and commissioning of the new feeder line,” he added.
