Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and Government of Odisha, has been working towards spreading awareness among the consumers to conserve energy. Further strengthening such initiatives, TPCODL on Tuesday observed the National Energy Conservation Day, involving consumers, school children, and employees to boost the energy conservation awareness campaign.
Taking the initiative to the next level, TPCODL conducted learning sessions for children at various schools across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. More than 200 students were sensitised on the importance of energy conservation for a better future and ways and means of saving energy. Children also participated in a quiz competition conducted on energy conservation followed by plantation drives organised at the schools. Children, one of the most powerful sources when it comes to social influence, will help to drive the message home effectively.
Energy saving tips and information on energy saving appliances such as 5-star ACs, IE3 class motors etc. were shared with customers at the company’s Customer Care Centres. For employees, online knowledge sharing sessions and quiz competitions were organised emphasizing the importance of reducing the amount of energy used.
“Conservation of energy is one of the most effective ways to deal with shortage of energy. It needs to be a top priority for all of us to give a better future to the next generations. At TPCODL, we always strive to spread awareness on energy conservation. The sooner we understand the need, better the future will be,” said M. Shenbagam, CEO, TPCODL.
TPCODL serves a population of 1.36 crore with customer base of 26 lakh and a vast distribution Area of 29,354 Sq. Km.
