Tata Power Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) has taken comprehensive measures to guarantee a consistent power supply to its customers across western Odisha during the upcoming summer season. Anticipating an increased electricity demand ranging from 1750 MVA to 1800 MVA, a 12 per cent rise compared to the previous year, TPWODL has prioritized proactive maintenance of its network and collaborated with various stakeholders to address supply and demand challenges.

Preventive maintenance activities, including work on all 312 Power Substations (PSS) and 5600 CKM of 33 KV feeder lines, are currently underway and scheduled for completion by March 2024. Additionally, progress on the maintenance of 20,000 CKM of 11KV feeder lines, with 90 per cent already completed, spans both urban and rural areas. Ahead of the summer season, extensive tree branch trimming is being conducted, while intermediate poles are being installed to elevate cable heights. Essential equipment is strategically stored across company facilities, and specialized teams are on standby to restore power supply as needed.

A 24-hour control room has been set up at the corporate office to facilitate seamless communication with on-ground operation and maintenance teams. The toll-free call center in Sambalpur has been upgraded to handle increased demand, and TPWODL has deployed a range of equipment including 9-man lifters, pole masters, hydras, pulse machines, cable fault locators, Aska lights, and mobile transformers across its circle offices. Bidyut Seva Kendras are operating in shifts, and the Power System Command Center in Burla is operational 24/7, equipped with automatic load balancers to ensure stable distribution.

The TPWODL CEO reassured the public through a press statement, expressing confidence in the proactive preparations undertaken and the dedication of the company’s 5000 employees to maintain a stable power supply. He urged consumers to remain assured of uninterrupted electricity provision while urging them to reach out to the toll-free contact number (1800-3456-798) in case of emergencies.
