Union Coal Secretary visits MCL

          Union Coal Secretary Anil Kumar Jain and Joint Secretary Vismita Tej visited different areas of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) on Friday.

After arrival on September 29, the Secretary Jain chaired a review meeting at MCL headquarters in Sambalpur along with the Joint Secretary which was attended by MCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director OP Singh, Director (Personnel) Keshav Rao, Chief Vigilance Officer PK Patel, Director (Technical/ P&P) JK Borah, Director (Finance) AK Behura, Area GMs and HoDs of MCL HQ.

The Coal Secretary appreciated team MCL for positive growth over target in all three parameters viz, Production, Dispatch and Overburden Removal.

On day two of the visit, Jain visited Ib Valley Coalfields for inspection of mining operations at Basundhara, Lakhanpur and Ib Valley Area. He was accompanied by MCL CMD, Director (Personnel) and Director (Technical/ P&P).

Jain inspected the operations of Garjanbahal and Kulda Open Cast Projects (OCPs) and reviewed upcoming 50 MTPA Siarmal OCP where he advised that Siarmal should produce more than the targeted Coal for FY 2022-23. He also inspected the dispatch operations of Sardega siding and upcoming 20 MTPA Rapid Loading System under Basundhara Area.

Under the CSR initiative of MCL Basundhara Area, tricycles were distributed by Jain to Divyang persons in Basundhara Area.

After arriving at Lakhanpur Area, Jain chaired the meeting with Railway officials where he emphasized for all possible support by Railway for enhancing dispatch of coal considering the increased demand from power sector.  He also inspected mining and dispatch operation at Lakhanpur OCP and siding.

MCL contributes about 25 percent to the total coal production of Coal India Limited.
