As a part of its relentless pursuit towards health and wellbeing of this region, the Aditya Birla Group company Utkal Alumina International Limited (UAIL), in association with Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital and Ama Odisha, organized a blood donation camp at its Township Club House at Nuapada on Friday.
Employees of Utkal Alumina along with their family members, employees of partner establishments, contract workers and laborers along with the community people voluntarily donated blood for a social cause which would meet the blood requirements of the Blood Bank of Rayagada district. A total of 225 units of blood was collected from this camp.
Rayagada ADM Dharmananda Behera graced the inaugural event as chief guest. Kashipur Tehsildar Sarat Sabat, Utkal Alumina Unit Head Mazhar Beig, and Rayagada Blood Bank Officer Dr. Abdul Mazid graced the inaugural session as distinguished guests along with other senior officials of UAIL.
Speaking on the occasion, Rayagada ADM Behera applauded the efforts of Utkal Alumina for organizing the event, especially at this critical juncture of COVID-19 when blood has become the most precious thing for human life. He encouraged the industries to initiate such noble initiatives which would contribute towards the health and wellbeing of the society at Rayagada district.
Sabat acknowledged the arduous effort of Utkal Alumina for organizing the voluntary blood donation camp. He assured to extend all necessary support from the district administration towards organizing such camps.
In his deliberation, Beig said that donating blood is the best gift one can render for the humanity. He emphasized that Utkal Alumina is always at the forefront in taking such initiatives which are beneficial for the society and Rayagada district at large. He thanked the volunteers who come forward to donate the precious gift of life for a social cause.

As a responsible corporate citizen, UAIL is deeply engaged in executing its CSR activities in peripheral villages in the field of education, healthcare, sustainable livelihood, and rural infrastructure and addressing the issues of social concern. Overall, UAIL is engaged in 84 villages serving more than 30,000 populations in Odisha.
