Vedanta Limited, India’s leading producer of metallurgical grade alumina and a part of Vedanta Aluminium, recently orchestrated the grand consecration ceremony, ‘Mandir Pratishtha Mahotsav,’ of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Lanjigarh. This sacred edifice, a meticulous replica of the iconic Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, a revered pilgrimage site in India deeply intertwined with Odisha’s cultural tapestry, was inaugurated amidst an august gathering of dignitaries and devout worshippers.

The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Odisha’s Minister for Planning and Convergence, Rajendra Dholakia, Lanjigarh MLA Pradeep Bisare, alongside several dignitaries from the district administration. The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout of over 50,000 ardent devotees hailing from Kalahandi and Rayagada, underscoring the temple’s profound significance.

Standing tall as an architectural marvel, the recently inaugurated temple boasts a height of 91 feet and a width of 62 feet, adorned with 25 intricately designed pillars embellishing its two-storey structure. Designed to accommodate over 2000 worshippers simultaneously, the temple exudes traditional grandeur, featuring a vimana (sanctum sanctorum), jagmohana (entry porch), and rekha (spire above the sanctum). Its resplendent walls narrate tales of devotion through intricate carvings depicting revered deities, mythological figures, and the indigenous flora and fauna of Odisha.

Vedanta Aluminium played a pivotal role in realizing this architectural marvel, offering unwavering support in the temple’s construction, alongside generous contributions from its business partners and the local devotee community. The Sri Sri Sri Harihar Sanskrutika Seva Samiti also lent its invaluable support in organizing the consecration ceremony, further accentuating the collaborative spirit underlying this endeavor.

Expressing his sentiments on this auspicious occasion, Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya, CEO – Alumina Business, Vedanta Limited, remarked, “The inauguration of the Jagannath Temple marks an important milestone for the people of Lanjigarh and is the latest in our endeavor to help preserve the cultural richness of Odisha.
