Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has sponsored sporting gear for teams participating in the ongoing ‘Mo School’ Hockey Tournament at Jharsuguda.
Mo School Abhiyaan is an initiative by the Government of Odisha under its School & Mass Education Department, which aims to address the needs of school-going children and enable and support schools with infrastructure, technology, etc. so they can provide a wholesome and nurturing environment to children during their formative years.
Currently, Vedanta Aluminium supports four schools in Jharsuguda district as a partner in the Mo School Abhiyaan. The company has contributed a sum of Rs 80 lakh towards building required infrastructure like smart classrooms, e-libraries, computer labs, playgrounds, gardens, etc. in these schools.
In its endeavour to support the Mo School Hockey Tournament, Vedanta Aluminium has partnered the District Hockey Association, District Administration and District Education Department of Jharsuguda.
Speaking about Vedanta Aluminium’s developmental interventions for students, Sunil Gupta, CEO – Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda, said, “Our interventions in education are aimed at giving students from rural communities access to the best of opportunities that go beyond primary education. We firmly believe that quality education lays the foundation of successful societies and communities. Sports provide a wonderful platform for students to learn values like teamwork, healthy competition, pursuing goals, etc. which go a long way towards shaping them as individuals. Through these initiatives, we are working towards an inclusive, healthy, and creative environment that will empower our future generations with the right tools needed to reach their highest potential and be architects of socio-economic transformation in the region.”
Appreciating Vedanta Aluminium’s support towards nurturing grassroots sporting culture, Jiban Mohanty, Vice President, Odisha State Hockey Association said, “Promoting a culture of sports among youngsters shapes them positively in myriad ways and helps in their overall growth and development.
