Bhubaneswar, July 6, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a significant meeting here on Saturday, Anil Agarwal, Chairman of Vedanta Group, congratulated Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on the formation of Odisha’s new government. Highlighting Vedanta’s steadfast commitment to the state’s growth, Agarwal discussed collaborative opportunities aimed at further bolstering Odisha’s industrial and socio-economic landscape.
Renowned for his leadership at Vedanta Group, Anil Agarwal reaffirmed the conglomerate’s dedication to Odisha’s progress during a meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The discussions centered on identifying strategic areas for future collaboration that could amplify the state’s transformative journey.
Expressing confidence in the new administration’s vision, Anil Agarwal stated, “Odisha’s remarkable growth is a testament to the hard work and commitment of its people. Vedanta has played a pivotal role in the state’s development, and we remain committed to its sustainable and inclusive growth.” The productive dialogue underscored mutual aspirations for advancing Odisha’s industrial and economic sectors under Chief Minister Majhi’s leadership.
Vedanta Group has significantly invested over INR 1,00,000 crore in Odisha, marking its largest global investment. Key initiatives include the world’s largest integrated aluminium smelter plant at Jharsuguda and a state-of-the-art alumina refinery at Lanjigarh, which have collectively generated over one lakh direct and indirect jobs. Anil Agarwal had previously announced additional investments exceeding INR 25,000 crore during the Make in Odisha 2022 event, further cementing Vedanta’s commitment to expand its aluminium, ferrochrome, and mining operations in the state.
Beyond economic contributions, Vedanta’s comprehensive community development initiatives encompass livelihood enhancement, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development, benefiting over 4.5 lakh individuals across 500 villages in Odisha.
