Vedanta Aluminium partnered with the Jharsuguda District Administration to host sports enthusiasts over friendly tournaments ahead of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023, which is being held in Odisha. With sporting fervour abuzz in the region, a two-day cricket tournament was organised by the Jharsuguda District Administration at Vedanta Meadows cricket ground on popular demand.
The tournament was inaugurated by Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Rahul Jain, Project Director – Resettlement & Rehabilitation (R&R) Alomani Sethi, Odisha Hockey Association President Jeeban Mohanty, District Sports Officer Sushil Kumar Mishra and Inspector In-Charges of Kolabira and Badmal blocks.
The tournament witnessed three 12-over matches played amongst 4 participating teams – Administration 11 (District Administration), Police Ekadas (Police Administration), Media 11(Media Houses of Jharsuguda), and ‘Corporate 11’ (employees from Vedanta Jharsuguda, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, Odisha Power Generation Corporation, and TRL Krosaki Refractories Limited).
The final match was played between Corporate 11 and Police Ekadas,with Police Ekadas emerging victorious.

Felicitating the winning team, Superintendent of Police Rahul Jain said, “The cricket tournament was a fun and exciting experience for all, and helped raise awareness and enthusiasm for the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 in a unique way. Vedanta Aluminium’s contribution to the promotion of sports and community spirit is greatly appreciated.”
Thanking Vedanta Aluminium for hosting the tournament, Project Director Alomani Sethi said, “The cricket tournament brought together people of various fields and built momentum for FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023, which will be a mega sporting event for the state of Odisha.”
