The Jharsuguda Unit of Vedanta Ltd. has extended its support to the District Health Administration (DHA) in Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Awareness campaign, here.
The company conducted a rath yatra from February 9 to 13 in 80 villages of the district, spreading awareness on Lymphatic Filariasis. Dr. Lal Mohan Routray, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), flagged off the campaign in presence of Dr. DM Patel, Additional District Medical & Public Health Officer, and Bulunath Sahu, District Programme Manager (DPM), National Health Mission (NHM) at Jharsuguda.
Information materials were distributed and visual aids were displayed at prominent locations across the district for awareness and among the community.
Vedanta also ensured the administration of drugs to employees and their families by implementing DHA’s Mass Drug Administration (MDA) programme at its township.
“We are conscious of our social responsibilities and strive to fulfill them through structured interventions in various public domains with health & sanitation being the pivotal dimension among our social outreach efforts,” said CN Singh, CEO – Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda.
“From the Mobile Health Unit, which provides doorstep primary healthcare services across Jharsuguda district, to public awareness campaigns on various diseases, we have undertaken several initiatives under it,” he added.
Appreciating Vedanta’s support in carrying out the awareness drive, Dr. Lal Mohan Routray, Chief District Medical Officer for Jharsuguda, said, “Rathyatra for Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Awareness was a commendable effort by Vedanta’s CSR team as it ensured community’s awareness of the disease and successful implementation of the programme.”
