Vedanta Sesa Goa’s Iron Ore Odisha (IOO) is taking strides towards the development of communities through their structured CSR interventions in and around the Nadidihi region of Sundargarh district.
Under the banner of Project Nirmal, the company recently donated RO water purifiers to three schools and three Anganwadis from the periphery which will benefit over 360 students.
RO water purifiers were handed over to the respective school headmasters in the presence of Joseph Coelho, CEO, Iron Ore Odisha, Vedanta Limited; and Priyadarshini Mathew, Head-CSR, Iron Ore Odisha.
This initiative was well appreciated by school management and staff.
“At Vedanta Sesa Goa, we are committed towards the holistic development of communities around us through our structured CSR interventions. Health is one of the major thrust areas of our community development programmes, and this initiative is a step ahead in our endeavour to improve health and hygiene facilities for school students from the periphery of our operations,” said Joseph Coelho.
Thanking Vedanta Sesa Goa for the noble initiative, one of the school staff said, “We are really thankful to Vedanta Sesa Goa for donating the RO water purifier to our school. This will be very helpful for the students by providing access to safe drinking water and maintaining good health.”
Vedanta Sesa Goa has initiated multiple community development initiatives in and around the Nadidihi region, such as specialised health camps, healthcare facilities through a mobile health unit, awareness sessions among the communities on the topics of prevention of infectious diseases, ill-effects of alcohol and tobacco, training on family planning and menstrual hygiene, children’s education and well-being, drinking water infrastructure and sanitation, etc.
