World Skill Center launches advanced Precision Engineering program

BHUBANESWAR, AUGUST 22, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): In response to evolving industry demands, the World Skill Center Bhubaneswar (WSC) has unveiled a new program in Precision Engineering under its School of Engineering. Starting from the Academic Year 2024-25, this cutting-edge one-year program is open to candidates who have completed either a 2-year ITI or a 3-year diploma from any Polytechnic in the state.

“Precision engineering is a frontier field with significant opportunities both nationally and internationally. This new program at the World Skill Center aims to equip the youth of Odisha with the skills needed for this high-demand sector. We are also establishing advanced labs specifically for this course,” said Rashmita Panda, CEO of the Odisha Skill Development Authority and World Skill Center.

The Precision Engineering course is one of six new subjects introduced under the School of Engineering. Students will gain hands-on experience in essential engineering disciplines, including engineering drawing, inspection techniques, CNC turning and milling, 3D CAD/CAM applications, multi-axis programming and machining, CNC sheet metal fabrication, and grinding.

Upon completing the Precision Engineering program, graduates will be well-positioned for careers in a variety of industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, aerospace, automotive, and electronics.

The deadline for applications to advanced courses under the School of Engineering is August 30, while the deadline for the School of Services is September 10.
