Bongaigaon, September 23, 2024 (TBB Bureau: The CBSE Far East Zone Chess Championship (Under-17 Mixed) 2024, held from September 20th to 22nd at Royal Global School, Guwahati, Assam, concluded with an exciting display of talent and competition. Among the 46 participating schools and 184 competitors, DPS Ruby Park, Kolkata, emerged as the overall champion in the highly competitive Under-17 category.
Rajorshi Misra, a standout performer from DPS Ruby Park, played a pivotal role in his team’s triumph. The son of Hiranmoy Misra, Senior Manager (Chemistry) at NTPC Bongaigaon, Rajorshi demonstrated exceptional prowess on Board 4, winning six out of seven matches and drawing one. His consistent brilliance throughout the tournament earned him the coveted title of Best Player in the Board 4 category.
The championship, which featured 49 internationally rated players, was marked by intense competition and high-level chess. Rajorshi’s stellar performance not only brought glory to DPS Ruby Park but also highlighted the promising talent being nurtured by the NTPC Bongaigaon community.
Rajorshi’s remarkable achievements have made his family, school, and community proud, setting a high standard for future competitions.
