Emaar India proudly introduces “Shram,” a comprehensive skill development program tailored specifically for its construction workforce, aligning with the company’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) excellence. This initiative marks Emaar India’s 53rd National Safety Week Celebration.
“Shram” is an 80-hour training program designed to equip construction workers with essential skills and knowledge necessary for excelling in various job roles, covering aspects of bar bending, steel fixing, masonry, shuttering, and carpentry. The program will debut at the Urban Oasis project before expanding to the Emaar Business District in Sector 114, Gurugram.
This groundbreaking program emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical learning, with a strong focus on safety practices inherent to the construction industry. Participants will receive valuable insights into safety and health protocols, first aid procedures, and emergency planning crucial for on-site worker safety.
In a strategic collaboration with Lok Bharti Education Society, Emaar India aims to uplift blue-collar worker communities by providing vocational expertise essential for sustainable livelihoods within the construction industry.
Kalyan Chakrabarti, CEO of Emaar India, commented, “I firmly believe that ‘Shram’ will catalyze transformation within a segment of society traditionally overlooked in terms of upskilling. This initiative aligns with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047,’ and it represents Emaar India’s contribution to improving the quality of the talent pool in the country. By empowering our workforce, we can ensure a safer and more productive construction environment, educating them in various areas of construction processes.” He added that the training program will also provide digital and financial literacy, develop soft skills, and introduce workers to safety, health, hygiene, and housekeeping practices.
“Shram” aims to equip workers with the necessary skills to navigate construction sites safely and efficiently, addressing priorities often overlooked within the unorganized segment. Through expert-led on-site training, informative lectures, discussions, and final evaluations, Emaar’s initiative seeks to comprehensively empower the blue-collar workforce.
Emaar India envisions “Shram” as a significant step towards enhancing safety standards and worker welfare in the construction industry. By equipping workers with valuable skills and knowledge, Emaar India aims to set a new benchmark for ethical construction practices in India, integrating ESG principles at the core of its operations.
