Dalmia Cement organises plantation programmes for environmental protection

As part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. has been planting saplings in Lanjiberna and its surrounding areas besides creating awareness on the importance of afforestation for the protection of the environment.

As part of this initiative, Dalmia Cement has planted trees in some peripheral villages. The programme was attended by teachers and students from local educational institutions, local youth, and members of self-help groups who carried out plantation drive in collaboration with the company. The company has so far planted over 12,000 saplings of mango, litchi, guava, lemon, cashew, papaya and drumstick in Lanjiberna, Kheramuta, Saliameta, Sergitoli, Jalodihi, Bihabandh, Pelkapada, Alanda, Kukuda, Dhauraada, Rumabahal, Turitoli and Dudkabahal villages.

Plantation drive was organised in Bihabandha Labour High School, Kutra High School, Kesranmal Girls’ High School, Kichinda High School and BSW College during the Van Mahotsav.

Over a thousand saplings had been planted with the help of locals to make a barren hill green near Dhauraada (Bhuiyantoli) village. Besides local people, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. Head (Human Resources) Balram Panda, Lanjiberna Mines General Manager Subrat Mishra, DGM (Environment) Suresh Kumar Mohapatra, Senior Manager (CSR) Tapan Kumar Nayak, and Security Department’s Rashmikant Sarangi were present during this plantation programme.

Over the past five years, the company has continued its successful efforts to create a green forest in the area by planting 49,200 saplings in Lanjiberna and its adjoining villages. The CSR wing of the company, with the help of State Horticulture Department, has managed to create of mango and litchi orchard in an area measuring 12 acres in Lanjiberna, Jungletoli and Katang villages.

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. authorities said that the plantation drive will be intensified further in the coming days.
