Independence Day celebration will be a low key affair in Odisha this time

Keeping in view the ongoing Covid-a9 pandemic in the State, the Odisha Government on Monday decided to organise the state-level Independence Day celebration at Exhibition Ground, Unit-III here in a restricted manner.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will attend the event as chief guest and hoist the Tricolour.

At a preparatory meeting chaired by I&PR Department Principal Secretary Bishnupada Sethi here today, it was decided that the ceremony will be held in a restricted manner. A limited number of people, including the COVID Warriors, will be invited to participate in the state-level function, stated reports.

Independence Day celebration being a proud moment with emotional attachment involved with it, we have to give importance on every minute thing, said the Principal Secretary.  

The event will be telecast live on various media outlets and the common feed will be provided by I&PR department, he informed.
