In a bid to encourage the students to instill physical activity and sports in their daily routine, the Aditya Birla Public School (ABPS) Bhubaneswar recently launched a plethora of activities on the theme “Hum Fit Toh India Fit” under the guidance of Principal LN Dash.
The objective of the programme was to try to alter the students’ behavior from passive screen time to active field time. In this context, the school conducted a special programme in the AV Hall of the school on Thursday. Former Olympian and Odisha Hockey Promotion Council Chairman Dilip Tirkey graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with Aditya Birla Group Corporate Affairs President Ardhendu Mohapatra and Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications & CSR Vice President Bibhudatta Mahapatra.
In his address, Chief Guest Dilip Tirkey discussed the importance of fitness and role of sports in the life of students. While explaining the students about the facilities provided by the Odisha Government to promote hockey, the former captain of Indian Hockey Team advised the students to actively participate in sporting activities regularly to keep the body and mind fit.
Keeping in mind of the interest of the students, a Question & Answer session was held with Tirkey. The students interacted with him and asked questions about his achievement during school days, mantra to stay fit and plan to promote hockey in Odisha. The students also wanted to know mre about World Cup Hockey and Tirkey’s experience in leading Indian Hockey team.
It was really an out-of-the-world experience for Adityans.
Earlier, the students presented beautiful dance of Aditya Vandana and sang melodious welcome song for the guests under the guidance of Gyaneshwar Pandey, Rituparna Chatterjee and Namrata Gupta.
The proramme concluded with the vote of thanks by Vice Principal of the School, Chandresh Shah.
