As the Covid-induced lockdown made it difficult for its employees to visit consumers’ premises to take meter reading, Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPCODL) on Wednesday announced the launch of its Self-Meter Reading App – ‘TPCODL MITRA’, which enables customers to scan their meter reading and generate the bill instantaneously through simple steps.

To avail this facility, a consumer has to register himself/herself for the self-meter reading service through the App. Once registered, he/she can capture the current meter reading using smartphone and submit that on the app to generate the bill. Payment can be made online through the App.

Besides, customers can also report theft issues or receive power cut information through the ‘TPCODL MITRA’ App.

Commenting on the launch, TPCODL Chief Executive Officer M Shenbagam said, “As a customer centric organisation, we are always committed to offer utmost convenience to our customers. The Self-Meter Reading App is a testament of our efforts to empower customers with such value added services.”

The upsurge of the ongoing pandemic resulted in restricted movements due to lockdown and also made it difficult for TPCODL employees to carry out the physical meter readings. The ‘TPCODL MITRA’ App will be helpful for customers since it will eliminate the misses that can happen in manual meter reading during difficult situations, TPCODL said in a statement.
