Paradip Port Authority Chairman PL Haranadh today inaugurated the vessel construction activities at Paradip Port Slipway with the keel laying ceremony of a pilot boat.  The boat is being constructed by Sadhav Offshore Engineering Pvt Ltd. (SOEPL), which has taken the Slipway on lease through an e-auction process.

Since the Slipway was built around 30 years ago only small boat repairs have been carried out from time to time.

Sadhav Offshore Engineering plans to enhance and use the infrastructure for vessel construction besides boat repairs. The company is engaging professionals and experts in the field to design and build high quality sea-going vessels that will be recognized the world over.

“Odisha has a very rich maritime tradition; so we felt it is important for us to revive the business of ship construction and repair in the state, as it would not only provide high employment opportunity but will also revive the Odia pride in their rich cultural traditions,” said Devahuti Choudhury, Director, Sadhav Offshore Engineering.
